A Vintage Sheep Planter has been upcycled into a Pincushion. In looking at the planter it’s obvious that this was made in a ceramics class, by a beginner. You will see that the sheep was not cleaned well before painting and firing in the kiln.
In spite of the imperfections, this was well loved. I can tell this by the repair made on the back of the legs. This was made in an era when things were not disposed of. They were lovingly repaired.
Whoever made this Vintage Sheep Planter chose a soft peach glaze for the body. You can still see remnants of an orange-red used on the nostrils.
The fabric chosen for this ageless beauty’s cushion is cotton. The background is medium-pale minty green. At the top of the Vintage Sheep Planter is a large blossom in a blend of salmon and peach. Surrounding the blossom are two tone mint green leaves, as well as peach and lavender smaller flowers.
Finally, a pink trim with a high sheen was added between the cushion and and planter.
The Sheep measures 6” tall by 6” wide and 3 1/2” in depth. This is a one of a kind treasure just waiting for a new home. Perhaps yours.
