Forget Me Not Pillow
Forget Me Not Pillow has been hand stitched. The verse is stitched in royal blue. The clusters of flowers are stitched with lavender-blue embroidery floss with gold centers. Then the flowers are surrounded by clusters of royal blue and butterscotch berries.
Old Sturbridge Fabric
The stitchery has been bordered with a Old Sturbridge fabric. It has colonial blue flowers with golden centers. The background has tea colored leaves with speckles of spices throughout.
For the backing of the Forget Me Not Pillow, upholstery fabric was used. It it a woven design with butterscotch and wheat threads.
This pillow measures 9 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. This is a perfect size to use in a gathering of pillows, in a vignette, or in any room.
In keeping with the antique style the stitchery and border was significantly coffee dyed, then oven dried.
Finally the pillow was rag-filled then stitched closed.
What is Rag-fill?
Rag-fill consists of using all clean fabrics. Scraps of fabric, edges cut off, discarded fabrics of any kind upholstery, cottons and even cotton quilt batting are used.
Clothing with stains, or just wore out also get washed, then cut up and used to fill pillows.
In using rag-fill I believe the weight and feel of the pillow is in keeping with vintage and antique pillows.
This Forget Me Not Pillow has rescued something once bound for a landfill. How cool is that!
